Internship Opportunities

OCEC is an equine exclusive hospital clinic with in house and ambulatory services.  We have 27 hospital stalls, including a climate controlled intensive care unit in our main barn.  We have an isolation barn, and additional stalls for extended stay/reproduction horses on the property. 

Emphasis is on

     3. Performance Horses

Percentage Breakdown
     1. Reproduction (60%)
     2. Medicine (20%)

     4. Performance/Lameness (10%)

The clinic is equipped with:

     2. Surgery suite, padded induction/recovery area
     3. In house laboratory
     4. Separate reproduction laboratory
     5. Stallion collection facility

Our internship philosophy is to provide interns with the opportunity to build on core competency skills with a comprehensive learning curve in all aspects of an advanced and progressive equine clinic. Interns will initially be supervised directly in all procedures, decreasing in supervision as internship progresses based on perceived competency as assessed by supervising veterinarians. Interns will rotate with each veterinarian and be responsible for supervision and daily care of in house cases, primary and follow up care of routine cases, emergency calls, assisting with routine calls, and general anesthesia for surgical procedures.

Required Prerequisites for application are
     1. ​DVM or equivalent degree
     2. Eligible for licensure in the state of Oklahoma
     3. Resume/CV
     4. Three letters of recommendation from people who have professional knowledge of intern's equine skills and externship experience
